Matching bank-statement transfers to invoices in SAP Business One

English translation of a contributor’s story. Read the Polish original →

We run three companies on SAP Business One. Every bank-statement entry must be assigned to an invoice, but payment references can be incomplete: no invoice number, an abbreviated company name, or several invoices for the same amount.

Basal chooses an invoice from up to six candidates previously found by our program using the amount, the number in the payment reference and the counterparty’s name. The program compares amounts; Basal receives the completed check indicating whether they match. An accountant assigns entries whose Basal confidence is below the threshold in its calibration file.

basal-1.5, with 4.5 billion parameters, runs on our server with an RTX 3060. Customer data and bank-account numbers stay inside the company. We verified this by blocking the server’s internet access: Basal continued answering with the same results. One entry takes around one second.

In October 2026, we are measuring accuracy on six months of entries, using the invoice against which SAP settled each transfer as the reference. We will add the result.
